South Africa 50 Cents 1965 to 1990

What a neat coin. The flower design on the back is especially nice. These coins come with various patterns and inscriptions on the front, but the back is the same flower pattern. Some coins have Jan van Riebeeck (shown), others have the coat of arms of South Africa, and still others have various South African dignitaries. All coins are made of nickel.

The value of these coins is low. A collector might buy an uncirculated specimen for $1 or $2 US dollars. There is one good date, 1969, which might sell as high as $8 or so.
