Token Canada Haweater Dollars 1976 to Date

From Numista: Manitoulin Island sits in Lake Huron and is the largest freshwater island in the world. Interestingly, it contains three large freshwater lakes of its own, each of which has still more freshwater islands. The island is home to some thousands of Native Americans and non-natives alike. The first white settlers on the island initially had some difficulty growing food, and to survive they ate the abundant hawberries which are found in large concentrations on the island. Because of this, someone born on the island is known as a 'Haweater', and that name was also extended to this series of local tokens.

There are many different patterns. These tokens sell on the secondary market roughly as follows, with more modern dates worth less:

worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $3
well preserved: $5
fully uncirculated: $10
