Iraq Babylon Commemorative Set 1982

In the early 1980s Saddam Hussein started an ill-fated project to rebuild the ancient city of Babylon on the Euphrates River. The project never finished, but the UK's Royal Mint produced a set of proof coins to commemorate the start. Since then, various sources have assembled different look-alike copies of the Royal Mint's set. The original Royal Mint set is valuable. The look-alikes are not.

To determine the value of your set, you must first figure out if it is an original or a look-alike. The green set in our picture marked 'Valuable' is an original. The blue set in our upper left picture is a look-alike. There are other look-alikes with green backgrounds, so be sure you have the original.
