These silver coins from Denmark commemorate the accession of kings upon the deaths of their predecessors:
1 SPECIEDALER 1848: accession of Frederik VII upon the death of Christian VIII
2 RIGSDALER 1863: accession of Christian IX upon the death of Frederik VII.
Both coins share the unusual property of having two kings on one coin, one king on each side. The 2 rigsdaler is shown in our picture. The 1 speciedaler looks similar, but with different inscriptions.
The coin in our picture comes from Stack's Bowers where it sold for $200 US dollars during a 2010 auction. The Stack's coin has a light cleaning, undetectable in the image, but easily detected by an expert in person. The faint cleaning lowers the overall value. Had it been uncleaned, the retail value would probably push $500 or more.
