King George awarded only 2490 of these special King's Medal. The medal was awarded to non-British civilians who had helped the Allied cause in less dangerous ways such as fund-raising and organising ambulance services.
They are rare in top-notch condition. Most are worn or dirty. Typical catalog values run like this:
worn: $100 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $150
well preserved: $225
fully uncirculated: $400
To reach these high values the attached ribbon must be in a condition commensurate with the medal itself. Please read our Important Terminology page for instructions about interpreting these catalog values. Actual buy and sell values are usually less than catalog.
