France (Dombes) 1/12 Ecu 1664 to 1668

France (Dombes) 1/12 Ecu 1664 to 1668

This coin comes from the old French Duchy of Dombes which was ruled by Anne Marie Louise d Orleans between 1650 and 1693. If you squint at the inscriptions you can make out 'ANNE MARIE' and 'DOMBES,' but only with plenty of literary license. The actual inscriptions read

AN MA LOV PRINC SOVV DE DOM
DNS ADIVTOR ET REDEM MEVS

The denomination is 1/12th of an ecu, where the ecu was the 'silver dollar' of the day.

Values of these coins run like this:

worn: $25 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $80
well preserved: $200

Since requester Sosovac's coin has a hole in it, the value is close to zero. Collectors will not buy holed coins.
