The Netherlands is one of the few countries that allow municipalities to issue their own money. They are called stedenpenning, or cities money, and there is a great page of them at Jezuss.nl [PRESS HERE].
The example of requester CVis comes from the city of Roermond in the Netherlands, and it celebrates the 750th anniversary of the city. There are several schild denominations and a few different patterns.
A few decades ago, municipal tokens were hot collector items. However, only a small collector following exists today. See the MunicipalTokens.com web site [PRESS HERE].
Typical values for the Roermond issues, and tokens like it, run like this:
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $1
well preserved: $4
fully uncirculated: $8
To sell such an item, you need to find a collector. eBay is a good place to look. Coin dealers will not pay much for these tokens because the collector following is small and they have tough times selling them.
