Hi Sam,
Your 1 kopek coin from the former Soviet Union has been struck with basically the same pattern since 1924. The composition has changed from bronze to aluminum bronze to brass, and the pattern has morphed slightly, but it is essentially the same coin over the years, 100 kopeks to the rouble. Copper-based denominations include 1, 2, 3, and 5 kopeks.
The value of these coins is not very great, but there are a few *good dates*.
Lumping all the common dates together across the 1, 2, 3, and 5 denominations, approximate catalog values are:
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: less than $1
well preserved: $1
fully uncirculated: $5
Two and three kopek coins are somewhat more rare than one and five kopek coins. Catalog values above double (approximately) for common date two an three kopeks.
For the better dates, the values shown are for coins in well preserved condition. To qualify for these values, coins must be free of all problems, such as scratches, stains, spots, cleanings, nicks, gouges, corrosion, and the like.
