Ni Sichong (1868-1924) was a Chinese general who supported Yuan Shikai's Empire of China during the National Protection War. He resigned in 1920 due to the disastrous defeat in the Zhili-Anhui War. This medal commemorates the general and comes in gold and silver:
SILVER: 32 mm diameter, 13 grams
GOLD: 32 mm diameter, 18 grams
These are rare medals and it is almost impossible to estimate value accurately. Very approximately:
SILVER NI SICHONG MEDAL
worn: $100 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $200
well preserved: $300
fully uncirculated: $500
GOLD NI SICHONG MEDAL
worn: $1000 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $2000
well preserved: $3000
fully uncirculated: $5000
The above values can easily fluctuate up or down by 100 percent. The Chinese numismatic market is very fluid. We do not know of any counterfeits of this medal, but new counterfeits appear every day.
The picture below shows requester John-Chris's medal. It is a beauty. It does not look like a counterfeit. It is not fully uncirculated, but certainly qualifies for our 'well preserved' status.
