Rhodesia 6 Pence or 5 Cents 1964

Rhodesia 6 Pence or 5 Cents 1964

When Rhodesia wriggled out of British rule in 1970, their coinage reflected the decimal system of dollars and cents. Before that, coinage mixed the decimal system with the old British system of pounds, shillings, and pence. This coin has two denominations, 6 pence (6d) and 5 cents (5c). They were issued only in 1964 and they are made of copper-nickel.

Modern coins made out of non-precious metal are worth small amounts. Only when fully uncirculated, like the coin in our picture, do catalog values start to kick in. This is because collectors like to add nice-looking uncirculated coins to their collections.

worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: less than $1
well preserved: $1
fully uncirculated: $3

These are catalog values. Actual buy and sell values are lower.
