Sweden 1, 2, and 5 Ore 1909 to 1950

Nice coin, Marie. There are a few *good dates* in this series. Unfortunately 1913 is a *common date* and not worth very much.

Sweden issued this same pattern in 1, 2, and 5 ore denominations. There are a few dates issued in iron instead of the usual copper. Most of the coins, both iron and copper, carry low value, especially in worn condition. Here are the catalog values for most of the dates:

There are a few *good dates* in the 5 ore series. For 1 and 2 ore, all dates are of value shown above. The good 5 ore dates are:

1909: $30 to $80 in average circulated condition
1910: $700 in average circulated
1927: $500 in average circulated

The iron coins dated 1917 to 1919 carry slightly increase values, as follows:

1 ore: $6 in average circulated condition
2 ore: $12 in average circulated
5 ore: $35 in average circulated

For 1 ore coins with the 1912 2-over-1 overdate (where the number 2 looks like it was minted on top of the number 1), catalog values are $20 for average circulated coins and $250 for fully uncirculated specimens!

The 1 ore coins minted in 1914 were made both with a closed 4, like in this font, and with an open 4, like an old style numeral 4 written without a diagonal line. The closed 4 is the common type, and the open 4 coins catalog at $60 when average circulated and over $425 when fully uncirculated.

The 1922 1 ore coins are slightly uncommon and catalog at $4 when average circulated, $30 when fully uncirculated.

Finally, there is a twist with the 1909 1 ore coins. Most have a large cross on top of the crown, in similar scale to the coin shown in our image. However, some 1909 1 ore coins have a small cross, which takes up much less space between the R of 'FOR' and the F of 'FOSTERLANDET'. If your cross is smaller than the cross shown on this page on your 1909 1 ore coin the catalog values go up to $10 for average circulated coins, and up to $100 for fully uncirculated coins.
