Norway 1/2 Skilling 1839 to 1841

Norway 1/2 Skilling 1839 to 1841

It turns out that Norway did not make a 2 skilling coin in 1839, Big Ed. Nor did related countries Sweden, Finland, or Denmark. If you check your coin, I'm pretty sure you will find it to be a one-half skilling piece from Norway. Our picture shows the 1/2 skilling coin, as advertised by respected eBay seller dnecoins. DNE's specimen is a great coin, with little wear, no problems, and attractive eye appeal.

Here is what the catalogs say about all the dates in this coin series:

worn: $5 US dollars catalog value
average circulated: $12
well preserved (like the picture): $70

These are inflated catalog values. Actual values will be less, as explained on our Terminology page.

CoinQuest thanks dnecoins for use of their coin image. It's a beauty!
