Jamaica 5 Cents 1969 to 1993

Jamaica 5 Cents 1969 to 1993

This Jamaican 5 cent coin is very modern and, like all modern coins, it is worth face value. The only time a modern coin is worth more than face value is when it is made out of gold or silver, or when it is in fully, absolutely uncirculated condition. Very few modern coins are made of precious metal. Collectors will often pay a premium over face value for non-precious coins as long as they are in superb condition.

Being from Florida, I like the design. The coin catalog says that it is a crocodile, not an alligator. We have mostly alligators in Florida. Just as well. Those crocs are mean!
