Thailand 1/2, 1, 2, and 4 Att 1874 to 1882

Thailand issued copper coins in 1/2, 1, 2, and 4 att denominations from 1874 to 1882. The corresponding date on the Chula-Sakarat calendar is 638 years earlier (1236 to 1244), shown by the small characters above the bow on the back of the coin. The pattern on each denomination is approximately the same, but the size and values are different, as follows.

The coin in the picture is actually Gloria's 2 att coin. She sent us the picture. Isn't it a beauty? It has very little wear, and time has slowly turned the copper surfaces brown. A coin collector would probably grade this coin 'About Uncirculated', putting it between CoinQuest's 'well preserved' and 'fully uncirculated' categories. The catalog value would be, therefore, about $120. Using the rules on our Important Terminology page, the retail price would be about $90 and wholesale bid would be about $60.
