Switzerland 5, 10, and 20 Rappen 1850 to 1877

The 1 and 2 rappen coins from Switzerland look like these 5, 10, and 20 rappen coins, except the smaller denominations are made out of bronze instead of billon, and the smaller denominations were minted far longer, to 1946. Nevertheless, these larger denomination coins are worth quite a bit of money, especially when in good condition. Most 5, 10, and 20 rappen coins are well worn.

The 1850 5 rappen with no mint mark is a special coin. Most have mint marks. If you find one with no mint mark, you have a valuable coin. The one in our close-up picture comes from SINCONA where it sold for $2600 US dollars during a 2013 auction.
