India (British) Pie, 1/2 Pice, Pice, 2 Pice and 1/4 and 1/2 Anna 1804 to 1834

Yo, Ikks -- That's a cool coin. You have a one-quarter anna from old British India. Other coin denominations were minted with the same pattern but different sizes. These include the pie, 1/2 pice, pice, and 2 pice coins. This page covers all the copper denominations with the lions, shield, and scales patterns. Some have inscriptions EAST INDIA COMPANY and some do not.

The coin in the picture comes from respected eBay seller pbsilver1 who has it on sale for about $25 US dollars. That's a good price. Most of these old coins are worn to a frazzle, but not pbsilver's. It is in good shape, and that pushes collector demand up, and that pushes price up. If pbsilver or another honest dealer were buying it from you, he or she would probably pay between $10 and $15 for this coin. The difference in dealer margin, which is necessary to keep the dealership solvent.

Here are some approximate catalog prices for these coins. They all skyrocket as condition approaches fully uncirculated.
