Look at the picture of this beautiful old Indian rupee Mickey sent to CoinQuest. There are 1/4 and 1/2 rupee coins as well with the same pattern. Also, like all British coins, the portrait of the reigning monarch appears on the front of the coin. Queen Victoria is shown on Mickey's specimen. King William IIII appears on earlier dates of this coin.
This particular series, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 rupee, is a coin collector's special because there are many subtle varieties of the coin with substantial value differences between each variety. CoinQuest does not track coin varieties because the subject is so broad, so we specify here approximate catalog values for the most common coins. If you are interested in varities you should poke your big toe into the world of coin collecting and see if you like it.
