Jacob is correct. The mintage on these pennies and half pennies is quite small. But they are still readily available to collectors and that keeps the price low.
Both the half penny and penny were minted in two metals, brass and copper nickel (shown), and both have the characteristic hole at the center.
Except for a few dates listed below, all these coins carry values along these lines:
worn: less than $1 US dollar
average circulated: $1 to $2
well preserved (like our picture): $6
Here are the better dates. The value shown is catalog value for well preserved specimens. Worn coins are worth far less.
