Nice coin, Salguod! Since your specimen is in well preserved condition, it will be worth quite a bit. The coin in our picture comes from repsected eBay seller ShawneeCoins and they have it on sale for $169 US dollars, a good price for such an old, rare, nice looking coin.
CoinQuest thanks ShawneeCoins for use of their coin photo.
The design changed slightly during 1817 when the bust of King George got smaller in the latter half of that year. The collector values are pretty much unaffected by the change.
Here is what the catalogs say for these old half crowns. Remember these are inflated catalog values and must be properly converted to actual buy and sell values using the information on our Terminology page.
worn: $40 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $150
well preserved: $625
full uncirculated: $1000
Sorry, Salguod, I am not skilled enough to know about the double stops (what we call colons in America) on the reverse. All my reference material shows them after FID and DEF, but not REX. If your coin differs from this standard pattern, it could add some value over and above the figures quoted. It may also indicate a mistake made by a counterfeiter. Remember only to buy valuable coins from professional and trusted dealers.
