Great Britain Crown 1927 to 1936

Nice coin, Yassine, and valuable, too. The coin in our picture comes from York Coins in Red Hook, New York, where it is on sale for $275 US dollars -- a good price for such a nice looking and well preserved specimen.

Due to the low mintage numbers (approx. 1000 to 10,000 coins per year) all coins in this series are valuable, cataloging roughly as follows:

fully uncirculated: $700

Of course these are catalog values, and they are inflated over what one can actually buy or sell the coin for. To understand how to convert from catalog value to actual buy and sell value, use the concepts on our Terminology page.

The values in the list above apply to all dates except one. The 1934 coin has a very low mintage, only 932 coins, and for that reason is priced sky high. Here are the values if you are lucky enough, like Yassine, to have one:

The fact that Yassine specifies 'little or no wear' for his coin, puts it in the $3000 to $5000 range. This makes it suspect. Modern day counterfeiters specialize in rare coins, and Yassine must take steps to ensure he has a genuine piece, not a fake.
