Nice coin, Dave --
These old 25 and 50 ore coins from Sweden carry significant collector value if they are in good shape. As always, worn coins are worth less, well preserved coins are worth more, and damaged coins are worth zero.
Here are typical catalog values for the 50 ore coins that look like our picture:
50 ORE
worn: $5 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $25
well preserved: $100
fully uncirculated: $500
Don't forget to convert these catalog values to actual values (which are lower) by consulting our Important Terminology page.
If you have a 25 ore, it may look different than the 50 ore pictured. Check it out!
You can see one of the designs has the date on the inside of the wreath, the other it is outside. The inside date is generally more valuable.
25 ORE DATE OUTSIDE WREATH
worn: $3 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $10
well preserved: $30
fully uncirculated: $110
25 ORE DATE INSIDE WREATH
worn: $8 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $40
well preserved: $100
fully uncirculated: $300
Inside-wreath coins dated 1874 and 1876 are more common and worth a little less than these values
Inside-wreath coins dated 1875 and 1878 are less common and worth a little more than these values
