These are nice coins. They come in 10 and 20 franc denominations with the same pattern, but with different sizes and weights:
10 FRANCS: 0.0933 troy ounces gold
20 FRANCS: 0.1867 troy ounces gold
Multiply the current price of gold (see kitco.com) by the gold content and you will get the minimum value, or the base value or the bullion value (BV), for your coin. If, hypothetically, you have a 10 franc coin and the current gold price is $1300 US dollars per troy ounce, the base value would be BV = 0.0933 x 1300 = $121.
If your coin is a beautiful shape like the one in the picture, add a few US dollar to its basic gold value, like this:
10 FRANCS AND 20 FRANCS:
worn: BV
average circulated: BV
well preserved: BV + $20
fully uncirculated: BV + $100
If you were to sell your coin to a dealer, he or she should pay between 60 to 90 percent of the values above, depending on condition and the state of the gold market. For a discussion about converting catalog values to actual buy and sell values, see our Terminology page.
