Gorgeous coin, Bruce. As you know, it is from the Free City (Freie Stadt) of Frankfurt before the German States congealed into the German Empire in 1871.
The one thaler coin in the picture comes from Kapaan and Mades in Marl, Germany, where it is on sale for 225 euros (about $315 US dollars).
Most collectors do not like the toned appearance of coins like the one pictured. To me, the rich blue highlights add value to the coin, they don't detract value. But individual taste is what coin collecting is all about. That is why it is virtually impossible to precisely place prices on coins. They are one-of-a-kind collectibles for one-of-a-kind collectors!
Nevertheless, we can provide rough guidance in the form of catalog values. Use our Terminology page to correct for the inflated nature of these values.
1 (EIN) THALER, 30 mm diameter, 0.536 troy ounces of silver
worn: $25 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $60
well preserved: $100
fully uncirculated: $200
2 (ZWEI) THALER, 40 mm diameter, 1.072 troy ounces of silver
worn: $50 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $70
well preserved: $140
fully uncirculated: $200
By the way, there are slight variations in the design of these coins, notably in the woman's hair, for different dates. The values are all about the same, as outlined above.
