These are World War II issues. They are difficult to find in decent numismatic (coin collector) condition. They all say LIBAN X PIASTRES (where X = 1/2, 1, 2 1/2, or 5) but the patterns are different. The 1/2 piastre has a hole in the center. The 1/2 and 1 piastres are made of brass; the 2 1/2 and 5 piastres are made of aluminum. The 5 piastres is a truly rare coin.
Our listings below give very approximate catalog values for these coins. If you have one in good condition, with a nicely centered strike and pleasant eye appeal, it is worth more than most of the somewhat crude coins you find in many collections.
