Most Brazilian 50, 100 reis and 200 reis coins catalog for only a few US dollars. They are made of copper-nickel, so there is no precious metal value. There are a few special dates in these series (see listings below). Common date coins in fully uncirculated condition can reach $50 to $100 in catalog value. These are coins that show a strong dependency on condition (state of preservation, amount of wear, or 'grade' of the coin).
The 200 reis coin looks the same as the 100 reis coin except, of course, for the big 100. The 200 is a tad bigger than the 100. The 50 reis coin is also very similar, but a tad smaller than the 100 reis coin.
It takes a trained collector eye to distinquish between almost uncirculated and fully uncirculated condition. If you know a knowledgable collector, take your coin to him or her to find out if your coin qualifies for lofty uncirculated status.
Do you see the black spot on the 100 reis side of the coin in the picture? That is a 'stain' or 'spot' and would be considered damage by coin collectors. This would necessarily lower the coin's value substantially. The only thing that would be worse is if someone tried to clean the coin and remove the damage. Cleaning would be major damage.
