Columbia minted three different patterns to their 5 centavos coins in 1886. They all have Miss Liberty's (Libertad's) profile circled by REPUBLICA DE COLOMBIA on one side and a giant 5 with wreath on the other. The style details are a little different on each variety. The style differences do not affect value.
These coins are not easy to find in high grade (that is, good condition). You can find oodles of them in low grade, but we have looked for uncirculated specimens to almost no avail. That is why we have bumped up the typical prices you would normally see in catalogs. Here is our shot at catalog value:
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $1
well preserved: $7
fully uncirculated: $30
Apply the concepts on our Important Terminology page to convert these values to actual buy and sell values.
