What a neat coin, Chuck. These are big and bold silver coins from Guatemala, and bear the portrait of Rafael Carrera, charismatic ruler of Guatemala from 1844 to 1848 and from 1851 until his death in 1865.
The pattern with Carrera's portrait, shield, sunburst, and flags appears on both the 25 centavos and 1 peso denominations.
Our picture comes from respected eBay seller pigsauction, who we thank for this and several other great coin photos.
